Want a classic vibe for your song? Then you need a bass player who understands how to play with a classic approach and sound concept.Some bass players I like: James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Bob Babbit, Duck Dunn, Paul McCartney, Chuck Rainey, WIlton Felder, Aston "Family Man" Barrett, etc
I play a Fender P Bass with flatwound strings, which is in my opinion, almost always the right bass to play for every track. A P Bass with flatwounds gives you a solidity in the low end that other basses can't provide. I also play a Hofner style Violin Bass, for if you want it extra thumpy and tubby.
As a multi-instrumentalist with over 2 decades of stage and studio experience, I understand what the role of the bass is supposed to be, and will lay you down a solid foundation that sits right in the pocket. I won't fill up your track with fancy bass playing that can serve to detract from the groove. That being said, if you want a busier bassline, I'm more than happy to oblige.
